Most of my Mexican friends ignore the question and answer with various questions like Que tal or How are you?" But some of them will just answer, will you?

Answering questions (Que Tal? Or how are you? Etc.) is also very common.

My knowledge of Spanish is minimal, but as I understand it in English it is used a bit like a new one, sometimes to ask someone to do it, sometimes just as a greeting.
